This inspection was conducted to verify that the facility is operating in compliance with the conditions and limitations specified in Non -discharge Permit No. WQ0006863. The findings and comments noted during this inspection are provided in the enclosed copy of the inspection report entitled "Compliance Inspection Report". There were no significant issues or findings noted during the inspection and therefore, a response to this inspection report is not required. The purpose of the evaluation was to verify that the facility is operating in compliance with the conditions and limitations specified in Permit WQ0006863. Operators, Don and Karrie O'Mara, and Permittee, Dave Godwin, were present during the inspection. The repairs to the Genesis Condominium complex, due to Hurricane Florence, has been completed since the summer of 2020. The dual Sequencing Batch Reactor system peaked at approximately 10,000 gpd this summer season, less than half of the 24,000 gpd of permitted flow. Solids are removed from the facility 2 times a year by Barnes Environmental. The facility was approved without having tertiary filters or aeration in the EQ. Aeration has been added to one side of the EQ after Hurricane Florence. A review of records, since the last inspection in June 2019, shows no effluent violations and some TDS limit exceedances in Monitoring Wells #1 and #4. High levels of TDS can be typical of a barrier island environment, but the effluent TDS levels have also been high. The ORC stated that many condo owners have installed individual water softners that could be contributing to the high levels. The permit expired on May 31, 2016. A NOV/NOI was issued by the Central Office for failure to renew the permit on May 9, 2019 but was reurned. The importance to submit a renewal application was discussed with the Permittee during the inspection and an application was received 2 days later. The facility is compliant with Non -Discharge Permit WQ0006863. Please review the comment sections of the inspection report for more details.
