I am writing to respond to your request for an inspection and maintenance record for the Ecosystem
Enhancement Program (EEP) project constructed in the Town of River Bend just off Plantation Drive.
We regret that this report is tardy; however, the Town is aware of its responsibility to maintain this
structure in accordance with the January 25, 2006 contract.
The project is located across a recreation field that is adjacent to Town Hall and is inspected
frequently. The condition can be described as follows:
1. There has been no encroachment on the structure.
2. The side slopes of the site are stable.
3. There is no construction taking place in the watershed that feeds this wetland.
4. There is no evidence of silting occurring in the project area.
5. The Town recently posted an updated sign explaining the wetlands project for the
educational value of residents who use an adjacent walking trail.
6. NC State University has established a water quality monitoring station at the entrance
point for stormwater and also at the discharge point from the wetland. We have recently
requested to receive periodic updates of the results of this monitoring effort.
7. The Town has scheduled the maintenance excavation of the "fore bay" to be accomplished
during the current budget year.
We find that this project has advanced our citizens' understanding of stormwater issues, This
educational aspect of the project is helpful as we address stormwater issues throughout the Town.
