Inspection Summary:
Stephanie Williams and Linda Wiggs, with the Asheville Regional Office, conducted a Compliance Evaluation Inspection of
the Bent Creek Collection System on September 23, 2021. This inspection was conducted to determine if the system is
being operated and maintained in compliance with permit no. WQCSD0122. Gary Peacock (Area Manager) and Mike Abel
(WWTP ORC) were present during the inspection.
The Bent Creek Collection System carries an average annual flow of approximately 34,000 gpd and discharges into the Bent
Creek WWTP (NC0036684). The Collection System consists of 2,413 feet of 8-inch gravity sewer and 580 feet of 4-inch
force main. Lines are mostly PVC and clay, with ductile iron used for high priority lines. The system has one aerial line,
which crosses the creek before discharging into the WWTP.
There is 1 lift station in the system, with duplex flooded suction pumps, SCADA, audio, and visual. The pumps are in a dry
well on the side of the road and the wet well is under the road and is accessed by a traditional manhole on Summerglen
Drive. The wet well is cleaned every two months.
