Helen O'neal Subject: FW: Draingage at St. John's Housing Attachments: 2013StreamCallForm_WaRO. docx From: Mcclain, Pat (mailto• pat mcclain@ncdenr.gov] Sent- Wednesday, August 21, 2013 9:53 AM To: Helen O'Neal Subject: Draingage at St. John's Housing Ms. O'Neal, RECEIVED AUG 2 6 2013 Oft -WARD To follow -up on my visit yesterday to look at the drainage beside the northwest corner of the building, I would suggest that an approximate 50 ft. section of the "ditch" be either piped or provided with a bulkhead to prevent further deterioration of the "ditch" nearest the building. I have checked with a Mr. Roberto Scheller, with the Division of Water Resources, concerning the applicability of rules regarding working in perennial streams within the Tar - Pamlico River Basin. Attached is a form to be completed to have the drainage checked to determine whether there is a regulation in place regarding working in the "ditch ". Mr. Scheller also recommends that you contact Mr. William Wescott with the US Army Corps of.Engineers (910 - 251 -4629) to determine if the COE has any jurisdictional issues with the "ditch ". COE office located on W. Fifth St near Lee Chevrolet. (Unfortunately, the COE does not have a Washington, NC telephone number.) As to who can do this type of work. The companies that I have the most experience with are (without any recommendation): B.E. Singleton & Sons, and Harrington Sand (Bath). For bulkheading the only names I am familiar with are Boyd Sprouse (Bath), Linton (Bath) and Neal Sawyer (Washington). Again, this listing is not exclusive and I am not recommending any one.
