The North Carolina Division of Water Resources conducted an inspection of the B V Hedrick -Gravel &
Sand on 9/16/2021. This inspection was conducted to verify that the facility is operating in compliance
with the conditions and limitations specified in NPDES WW Permit No. NCG520014. The findings and
comments noted during this inspection are provided in the enclosed copy of the inspection report
entitled "Compliance Inspection Report".
There were no significant issues or findings noted during the inspection and therefore, a response to this

B.V. Hedrick Gravel and Sand Company, located at 403 Gravel Plant Rd, in Lilesville, NC, has
continuously mined the tract since 1924. The sand dredging operation at this facility discharges to 3
basins before flowing over a weir structure to the outfall point. Some of the water from the ponds is
pumped back up to the facility to be used in the washing process. During the inspection the outfall
was observed and the discharged water appeared clear. All required records and documentation
were available upon request. The NCG520000 permit series requires semi-annual sampling for flow
and turbidity. The results for these sampling events were reviewed from 2018 to 2021. This facility is
using Pace Analytical commercial lab for turbidty analysis.
