ION OPSCWPIO. WASTEWATER COLLECTION SYSTEM EXTENSION PERMIT NARRATIVE A permit for this project was previously approved, Permit No. W00041298 dated November 13, 2019 for the construction of 2,375 linear feet of 8-inch gravity sewer to serve 20 four -bedroom and 25 three - bedroom homes as part of the Shallowford project, and the discharge of 18,600 gallons per day of collected domestic wastewater into the Town of Elon's and the City of Burlington's existing sewerage system. The previous approved plans required a street realignment to comply with a revised 401/404 permit. The revised street alignment required the sanitary sewer line to be rerouted and a second point of connection into the town of Elon's system was required. The new point of connection required the sewer line to be installed across a wetland area with an aerial sewer crossing over an existing stream. The rerouting of the sewer line also required a crossing over a proposed storm drain line that did not meet the separation requirements. The crossing is shown on Sheet C-606 of the improvement plans. Since the separation requirements could not be met, both the sewer main and storm drain line were designed using Ductile Iran Pipe with special bedding and backfill consisting of flowable fill. The total flow from the project, the pipeline that the proposed sewer mains are connected, and the treatment facilities has not changed from the previously approved permit. In general, the location of the sewer pipelines in the streets also have not changed other than the new point of connection. We are proposing a public wastewater collection system to serve forty-five (45) single family lots. The public mains will discharge to the Town of Elon's public sanitary sewer system with two connections. Both connections will be accomplished with a doghouse manhole.
