TRYON DAILY BULLETIN 25
When education boards
fail students, we all lose
0o many public ed-
ucation boards are
missing the oppor-
tunity to serve the best in-
terests of the children, opt-
ing instead to score points
in a popularity contest.
They should forget the
politics of this whole thing
about wearing a mask.
Think about the hair shirt
they will have to wear if
the virus sickens so many
that they are forced to
close schools.
Forget the politics and
think about their pledge to
provide a safe and healthy
environment for the chil-
dren.
Forget the politics and
think about this: We are in
the middle --maybe even
still at the beginning —of
the worst health crisis of
our generation, and you
are in a position to be on
the side of care and cau-
tion.
In that position, as
adults you can make deci-
sions based solely on what
is best for our children.
All four counties sur-
rounding Polk Coun-
ty —Rutherford, Mc-
Dowell, Henderson and
Buncombe —are requir-
ing their students to wear
masks in order to reduce
exposure to and spread
of the virus. Rutherford
County reimplemented
its mask requirement one
week ago after cases began
