We are in receipt of your Notice of Violation dated September 9, 2021. The violation is for
reporting discharge flow for the period of 6/8 — 6/6 2021. During this time, town staff was unable
to reach the WWTP safely: Two incidents prevented entry to the site: flooding due to rainfall and
the washout of the entry road.
The county had,a water line break that resulted in approximately 4 MG of potable water to impact
the entry road. The flow from the line break created a washout of the road that was approximately
40 feet long, 20 feet wide and 15 feet deep. Due to flooding caused by rainfall as well as the water
from the line break, there was several days before repairs could be started. A contractor hauled
fill and worked on repairs for approximately four days. The town spent approximately $8,000.00
--- —for outside services. In addition, town staff spent many hours in assisting" with the repairs.
Wethank you for your consideration in this matter. If you have any questions or comments, please
call Tyler Shirley, Public Works Director, at: 252/531-3780.
Sincerely,
qss7
