Brad and Hannah,
The Site 3 loss area was approximately 10’ x 15’ and had already been shoveled out when I got
there. We will check to see if there are any additional deposits that have to be removed when the
water level recedes but I had them stop for now. The mechanized clear area will have to be cleaned
out again and the slopes regraded and reseeded. You can see in the photos that the top of the slope
had grass growing and there was not significant rilling until the bottom quarter of the slope. We
discussed potentially placing riprap toe protection in this location as well. I will keep you updated on
that.
At Site 4 (STA 65+00) where we had standing water up to the top of the silt fence we finished placing
riprap toe protection last week as a means of addressing the concerns regarding the potential for
washing. There is currently a lot of standing water at this location, so I am glad we got that in before
this storm. I did not see any rills in the slope. There is a foam film on the surface of the standing
water. I am not sure if this is from sediment or from the straw and fertilizer.
Overall, there is a lot of maintenance to do at the site, especially for retrieving material from
mechanized clearing areas, but no other losses were noted.
Please let me know if you have any questions,

Subject: U- 4751 Loss Site 3
Brad and Hannah,
U-4751 Military Cutoff Extension had a loss at into wetlands at Site 3 (STA 57+00 RT L) after receiving
~3.5 inches of rain last night. It sounds like the contractor may have already gotten going on
removing material so I am heading out to the site now. The contractor had previously removed
material from the mechanized cleared area after our last site visit and seeded and mulched the
slopes beginning of last week. It appears that fill material overwhelmed the weir in the wattle SDO.
The washing was attributed to rainfall as the road is graded to drain to the opposite side where
there are slope drains installed. I will provide additional information after my visit. Feel free to call
me with any questions.
