The project will construct approximately 1.3 miles of 6-lane divided freeway. There is one major interchange with US 17. Richland Creek is a FEMA stream. The project includes a temporary detour bridge over Richland Creek. There are no wetland or buffer zones on the project. Impact Minimization Efforts: Guardrail with 2:1 and 1.5:1 side slopes (including rock plating for the 1.5:1 side slopes) were utilized throughout the project to minimize impacts to streams and wetlands, as well as right of way. The temporary detour alignment is located such that it will temporarily impact the entire length of the UT to Richland Creek. After the detour alignment is removed, the UT to Richland Creek will be restored to its original condition. Proposed pipe and ditch outlets into the UT and Richland Creek are designed to have non-erosive outlet velocities. Stormwater BMP Measures: There are no new proposed stormwater BMPs on the project. There is one existing BMP on the project, a dry detention pond, for which the intent is to maintain. Ditches have been designed to meet grass swale criteria where possible. Deck Drains Discharge Over Water Body: Deck drains are needed to meet design requirememnts for spread during on-site traffic control patterns.
