Mr. Turchy,
Thank you for contacng the Muscogee (Creek) Naon concerning NCDOT Project BR-0033 regarding
the Replacement of Bridge No. 84 on Parker Padge Road (SR 1234) over I-40 in McDowell County,
North Carolina. The project area is located within the Muscogee (Creek) Naon's historic area of interest
and is of importance to our Tribe. Aer careful review of the material provided, the Muscogee (Creek)
Naon believes that there should be no effects to any known historic properes for the proposed
project. However, due to the historic presence of Muscogee people in the project area, there is always
the possibility of inadvertent discoveries of cultural resources, human remains and related NAGPRA
items, etc. Even if the proposed project is occurring in areas of exisng or prior development, there is
sll a possibility. With that being stated, if this does occur during ground disturbing acvies, the
Muscogee (Creek) Naon requests that all work in the area ceases and that our office as well as other
appropriate agencies be nofied immediately. Addionally, if any changes take place for the project, we
require that the informaon is sent to us for further review. If you have any quesons regarding this,
please do not hesitate to ask me.
