Answers to your questions:
The plan is to minimize the amount of actual re-grading that has to be done to the stream bed and centerline. The
major concern is removing the point bar that has built up over the years and pushed the stream south towards the
water line surge vault and repairing the bank around the surge vault. I've utilized a A-vane to help raise the stream
invert but not too much as it require a lot more disturbance to the stream bed.
You show upstream and downstream coffer dams, are you going to pump around while the work is being
done?
- Coffer dams and a pump around will be utilized as necessary for construction. To construct, we will have to
enter the site from the north to get to the south bank. There isn't that much flow in the channel and some of
the water is backwater from N. Buffalo.
Can you please provide me a detail for the cross/A vane.
- Attached are a profile sheet and a detail sheet for your review.
Can you provide me with a profile view of the stream and the cross vane. I need to see what the drop is going
to be over the cross vane and that you are using it to raise the stream invert above the riprap around the
pipe. The cross section of the riprap area is good and I just need to show the cross vane isn't going to be a 2
foot drop or anything.
