The project involves replacing an existing timber bridge on location with a concrete structure.The area around the bridge is residential with considerable forested watershed.

The purpose of the project is to replace an obsolete and deteriorated timber bridge(430237)on SR 1129 in Haywood County.
4i.Describe the overall project in detail,including indirect impacts and the type of equipment to be used:*
The existing bridge will be cut in half and new bridge stage constructed with a traffic switch.There will be impacts to streams for temporary dewatering as needed to demolish the old
bridge and permanent impacts at storm pipe outlets and under the bridge for rip rap.Also,an off-line pond will be filled because impacts to the dam for the bridge approach shift will
compromise its integrity.This bridge approach shift will move the road away from Sorrell Creek and allow more room for a riparian buffer to volunteer.Track-hoes,dump trucks and
other heavy equipment will be used.

This is an off-line pond with a surface water feed from a pipe in Sorrell Creek.It needs to be eliminated for a driveway and the bridge approach
realignment and because the dam will be impacted,which will likely compromise its integrity.Stream SB,impact site 3,is the return flow channel from
the pond back to Sorrell Creek.

The project will replace a bridge with another bridge,versus a culvert with more impact.The project is replacing the bridge near its original location,
which will otherwise minimize impacts to streams and the buffers.Also,the bridge approaches will be moved further from the banks of Sorrell Creek.

Dewatering will be used as needed to avoid excavation in flowing water.
