Rob Ridings Please give a brief project description below and include location information.* The Town of Zebulon is seeking to improve vehicular and pedestrian safety at the SR 2320(Old Bunn Road/Proctor Street)and Shepard School Road intersection by adding turn lanes,sidewalks,and pedestrian and traffic signals.To accommodate the sidewalks and additional lanes, drainage improvements are also being proposed.The proposed project limits extend approximately 0.17 mile along Shepard School Road and 0.22 mile along SR 2320. The project study area is approximately 8.4 acres in size.Areas of maintained road right-of-way, residential and commercial development, pasture, agriculture fields, stormwater features,wetlands, streams, and undeveloped forest occur within the study area.This project lies in the Neuse River Basin and is subject to the Neuse River Buffer Rules.There are three different locations where the project crosses an unnamed tributary of Beaverdam Creek. As this project is on NCDOT owned roadway,the project will be administered through NCDOT and all design has been done to their standards.The existing typical section allows for a two-lane section that transitions to add a left turn lane at the Walmart Driveway.This existing typical will be expanded to become a four-lane divided roadway with a variable width raised median, bike lanes,sidewalks,and curb and gutter throughout. Within the project study area, Shepard School Road is being proposed to be widened to include a variable turn and median lane and curb and gutter will be installed on both sides. Catch basins are proposed along the curb and gutter and tie into the existing 30"reinforced concrete pipe (RCP)-III.The cross pipe would be collared and extended to proposed roadway fill. By not replacing 30" RCP-III, impacts to the wetland(W1)will be minimized to temporary fill impacts for roadway construction. Proposed permanent stream impacts include pipe extension and channel stabilization at this site. Along SR 2320(Proctor Street),a proposed 48"RCP-III cross pipe would replace the existing 30" RCP. Proposed permanent stream impacts include rip rap at embankment at the outlet of a proposed lateral'v'ditch and pipe inlet channel stabilization at the inlet of the proposed 48" RCP- III.At the outlet of the proposed 48"RCP-III, rip rap at the embankment at the outlet and pipe outlet channel stabilization are being proposed.A roadside ditch that runs parallel to Shepard School Road north of the intersection will be filled.
