Dee Freeman Governor Director , 'Secretary June 26, 2012 Jo Ann Gentry Laurinburg-Maxton Airport Commission 16701 Airport Rd Maxton, NC 28364 SUBJECT: June 20, 2012 Compliance Evaluation Inspection Laurinburg-Maxton Airport Commission Laurinburg Industrial WWTP Permit No: NC0044725 Scotland County Dear Mrs. Gentry: Enclosed please find a copy of the Compliance Evaluation Inspection form from the inspection conducted on June 20, 2012. The Compliance Evaluation Inspection was conducted by Mark Brantley, Environmental Senior Specialist, of the Fayetteville Regional Office. The cooperation of Mr. James Croke, facility ORC, was greatly appreciated. The facility was found to be in Compliance with permit NC0044725. As a reminder, preservation of the Waters of the State can only be achieved through consistent NPDES Permit compliance. Comments • Facility was clean and neat in appearance at the time of the inspection. • During the walk through portion of the inspection it was noted that the thermometer in the effluent sampler was reading 12 degrees Celsius. Please remember that the temperature is be maintained between 1-6 degrees Celsius for proper sample collection. The higher temperature could have been caused by samples being collected just prior to the inspection. It was hotter than normal that day and some adjustments may need to be made to the refrigerator portion of the sampler. Please monitor and repair if necessary. It is also a requirement that the thermometers in the samplers (along with all other thermometers that are used for compliance sampling) be calibrated once a year with a NIST thermometer. Alternatively; a disposable certified thermometer may be purchased for use in the samplers. • Dissolved oxygen data for February 9, 2012 and March 17, 2012 was missing from the monthly DMR's. If you have not already done so, please submit an amended DMR with the missing data.
