Pilkington is formally requesting permission to patch a crack influent chamber and effluent
chamber of the package plant regulated by NPDES permit NC0021661 and located at 13121
Rocky Ford Rd. in Laurinburg, NC. The crack will be patched using Sika Cotnbiflex which will
require 72 hours of curing time at temperatures over 50°F. Pilkington is tentatively planning for
the work to commence the week of March 1 but, again, the date is tentative as the work is
contingent;. on weather.
While the system is down for repairs, wastewater will be pulled into a vacuum truck from the
nearest lift station upstream of the package plant. The wastewater will then be transferred to a
sanitary sewer belonging to the City of Laurinburg on Dana Drive in Laurinburg, NC.
It should be noted that the wall closet and wet wall will be thoroughly inspected for any
additional flaws prior to patching the known crack. Any issues will be addressed prior to
returning influent to the package plant.
Pilkington will notify the Fayetteville Regional Office when the work is completed and the
package plant resumes normal operations. --
