Dear Mr. Boss. -
This letter is provided in response to your correspondence that was received via email on
August 30, 2021.
As reported on August 17, 2021, there was 800 gallons of Sanitary Sewer Overflow (SSO)
into nearby Scotts Creek, entering from manhole S201 EA12, caused by heavy rain from
Tropical Storm Fred, dumping 5-10 inches of rain per hour. Once reported TWSA
immediately dispatched a crew to the site and verified that the manhole was overflowing.
Once the ORC got onsite, the rain had slacked off and the flow had receded back into the
manhole and TWSA lines. TWSA crew cleaned and spread lime around the manhole, but
no other measures were taken due to the flow going back to normal.
TWSA will be scheduling a smoke test of the entire up stream area this fall when the
leaves are down. This area will cover from Sylva to the Addie community. Once the smoke
test have been completed TWSA will take proper measure to correct any I & I problems
that may be found. This may require funding assistance, but will be prioritized within our
CIP.
