Robbie Bullock (Division of Water Resources) met with Mike Hunter (OBI) to inspect General Permit
NCG500617.
There has not been a discharge from this facility since the last inspection. On the day of inspection
there was a small amount of water on the floor in the boiler room. Mike stated that the boiler
blowdown goes to the floor and either evaporates over time or the water is pumped to a sump. Steam
from the autoclave is piped to the sump which causes the water in the sump to evaporate.
Mike was reminded that if the boiler blowdown is discharged sampling is required as listed in general
permit NCG500000. A copy of the Technical Bulletin and General Permit NCG500000 was given to
the facility.
