Corey Basinger — Regional Supervisor Water Quality Regional Operations Section Ref: Notice of Violation Tracking No. NOV-2021-DV-0347 City of Belmont - WQCS00046 Dear Mr. Basinger, The City of Belmont is in receipt of the above NOV and as required by your letter, our response to the violations are as follows: Incident # 202101499- This overflow incident at 320 Julia Avenue was the result of a gravity main pipe failure. On behalf of the City of Belmont, city crews responded to reports of the overflow and immediately began to permanently repair the 8-inch pipe. In total, 12 feet of clay pipe were replaced with ductile, and lime was applied to the affected area. A vacuum truck was also onsite to assist with repairs and cleanup. The incident area has no history of failures and was last inspected in June 2021. At that time, there was no indication of a pipe failure, and it was not foreseeable a failure would occur. City crews inspected the sanitary sewer line up and down stream of the failure and observed no other issues. There is no expected impact on wildlife or public health stemming from this failure. The City of Belmont worked diligently repair this failure and reduce the overflow volume to the best of its ability.
