Lincoln County
On August 2, 2021, this Office received a complaint of an Algal Bloom on Lake Norman in a
cove located at 2578 Las Brisas Lane, Denver. The algal bloom was investigated by Roberto
Scheller of this Office on August 2, 2021. At the time of site investigation, no algal bloom was
found; however, Submerged Aquatic Vegetation (SAV) was noted in about 0.7 meters of water
along shoreline that was mistaken for an algal bloom. A sample of the SAV was collected and
sent to the State Laboratory in Raleigh for positive identification. The SAV was identified as
Baldwins Spikerush (Eleocharis baldwinii).
