The Hooker Road Pedestrian and Bicycle Improvement project is being
proposed by the City of Wilmington.The proposed project would
construct an 8-foot asphalt multi-use path along the north side of Hooker
Road from Mallard Street to Wrightsville Avenue,for a total project length
of approximately 0.73 miles.The project would require drainage
improvements to accommodate stormwater runoff due to the installation
of the multi-use path.A component of the drainage improvements
includes the replacement of an existing culvert on the north side of
Hooker Road with a new extended pipe that discharges to an adjacent
marsh (see attached plan sheet). Coastal Area Management Act(CAMA)
coastal wetlands and Clean Water Act Section 404 wetlands were
delineated in the project corridor by WSP during a site visit on February
2, 2021.The culvert replacement area extends into a tidal marsh
adjacent to Bradley Creek.The proposed culvert replacement is located
at 130 Hooker Rd.
