They have yet to remove residuals from the WWTP. As soon as the region confirms removal, they can have the permit rescinded. Thanks, Derek From: Scheller, Roberto <roberto.scheller@ncdenr.gov> Sent: Monday, August 16, 2021, 10:00 AM To: John Mahoney Cc: Basinger, Corey; Pitner, Andrew; Denard, Derek Subject: Cedar Park WWTP Closure Mr. Mahoney: On August 11, 2021 @ 2:06 pm a site inspection was conducted for closure of wastewater treatment unit at Athena Cedar Park, Permit NC0034711. At time of inspection the subject treatment unit was full of solids that had not been pumped out for finial inspection. Please be advised that in accordance with your NPDES Permit Part III, Section D, Facility Closure Requirements, "The Permittee must notify the Division at least 90 days prior to the closure of any wastewater treatment system covered by this permit. The Division may require specific measures during deactivation of the system to prevent adverse impacts to waters of the State. This permit cannot be rescinded while any activities requiring this permit continue at the permitted facility." It is therefore required that all wastewater, bio-solids, sludge, waste residual, and debris be removed from the treatment unit and a time re -scheduled for a closure inspection. Please note that your NPDES Permit cannot be rescinded at this time with the treatment unit containing waste. If you should have any questions in regard to this closure please contact me.
