Subject: Wyatt Farlow Lake Mr. Drew Johnson, PE Barnhill Contracting Company PO Box 1529 Tarboro, NC 27886 Dear Mr. Johnson, As you are aware the Wyatt Farlow Lake has received silt and turbidity several times from the stream leading directly into the lake. An investigation was conducted by the NCDOT Geotechnical Unit on October 25, 2010. The investigation revealed that deposits of silt seem to be recent, but was less than half an inch was found, which could not be easily removed. The origin was not determined. This stream crosses the project and some silt has entered the stream from the project before and after this investigation as a result of heavy storms overflowing the erosion control devices on the project. Attached is a letter received from Mr. Ben C. Morgan representing Mr. Wyatt Farlow, owner of the lake. Mr. Morgan states that his client has hired a soil scientist to survey the pond. I have not seen the results of this survey. He request that adequate erosion control measures be taken to prevent future runoff and that the sediment in his pond be removed. In accordance with the Standard Specifications for Reads and Structures, Section 107 -12 and 107 -15, please contact Mr. Ben Morgan, 141 Worth Street, Asheboro, NC 27203, 336 -625 -6104, to resolve this issue.
