The silt was removed by hand from the stream to that point and the stream was monitored for possible accumulation of sift that could be removed from the system. Minor amounts of silt were beyond this point, but the deposits were not enough to be recovered. A logging operation that was upstream may have also contributed to the film of silt. Very turbid water discolored your lake for several days on some occasions. Dn October 25.20i8. the Beotevhnica Engineering Unit completed a pond sediment investigation atyour property. Attached are the findings and observations uf the investigation. The sediment samples show that all locations have less than half an inch of recent sediment thickness. /\ film ofsediment that iynot retrievable did reach your lake. |n conclusion, NCDOT has investigated the sediment hn your lake and conclude that a thin film did reach your lake. It is improbable that the recent sediments observed in the samples collected from your lake result from construction activities related to the WS-311 Bypass Project. Nn matter the source ufthe sediment |n your lake, itim not feasible turemove the thin film oJ recent sediment. VVn will continue to rnonitor the stream for retrievable deposits from the US-311 Bypass Project until it is stabilized. m,%IuwoADonsnn RESmNTEN7mcR'S OFFIZ:F P o BOX `1o* Ay°coopm.wrzrz0w wEEo"s hr/Ncnoranx/DoH`/ LommIow: 272m3 DRIVE Asoeen"o1wc2z204 Page November 29.2O1O If you have any questions concerning this matter or if this office can be of further assistance please advise.
