Cole Mill Rd bridge location: 36.059354, -78.978169.
Steps are partially within Eno River State Park parcel boundaries but are not an authorized access point
and will be removed when NCDOT stabilizes the area with rip rap and check dams. The majority of the fill
and rip rap placement will occur within the NCDOT ROW.

Existing culvert along Cole Mill Rd NCDOT easement that became blocked by upstream dumping of
concrete materials in roadside ditch. Per NCDOT this 48"culvert is correctly sized for the watershed
and will be cleared out/repaired when stormwater control BMPs are constructed within the road
easement.

Erosional gullies are currently over 3 ft deep. Roots will be removed so rip rap and
geotextife can be securely placed.
Caution tape and "do not enter signs have been placed at top of stairs multiple times by
Park Staff but visitors illegally parking along Cole Mill Rd constantly tear them down.

'Deep erosional gullies start at bridge abutment and run downslope to left bank of Eno River. Steps will be removed just
prior to NCDOT beginning work to negate any possibility of concentrated flow should a large rainfall event occur during
construction.
Once steps are removed, slope will be re-stabilized between erosional gullies and existing edge of steps (far right)
using rip rap and rock check dams.
