This inspection was conducted to verify that the facility is operating in compliance with the conditions and limitations specified in NPDES WW Permit No. NCG530123. The findings and comments noted during this inspection are provided in the enclosed copy of the inspection report entitled "Compliance Inspection Report". This inspection was conducted to determine if the facility is being operated and maintained in compliance with General Permit NCG530000 under Certificate of Coverage # NCG530123. Matthew Rhea, owner, was present and assisted in the inspection. At the time of the inspection, the facility appeared to be in compliance. The facility’s intake structure is a dammed section of Sorrell’s Creek. While a significant amount of the stream flows into the trout farm, there still appears to be positive flow downstream. Mr. Rhea has been under 20,000 lbs of harvest weight for at least the past five years and therefore has not sampled. In 2020, he only fed a total of 25,000 lbs of fish food. Currently, Mr. Rhea primarily raises trout for Camp Daniel Boone and occasionally sells trout locally. Several of the raceways are being utilized as settling ponds upstream of the primary settling pond. The effluent cascades down to the creek. No visual solids were noted in the effluent. Solids are removed in March and April and land applied onsite in garden beds around the property . If the facility plans to remain under threshold for the foreseeable future, a request to rescind the permit can be made. NCG530123 17 (Cont.)
