It is not valid for Archaeological Resources. You must consult separately with the Archaeology Group. PROJECT INFORMATION Project No: County: Stanly WBS No.: 17BP.10.R.147 Document Type: Fed.Aid No: Funding: X State Federal Federal X Yes No Permit Permit(s): Type(s): Project Description: Replace Bridge No. 35 on SR 1143 (Millingport Road) over Long Creek (no off-site detour specified in review request). SUMMARY OF HISTORIC ARCHITECTURE AND LANDSCAPES REVIEW DESCRIPTION OF REVIEW ACTIVITIES,RESULTS,AND CONCLUSIONS:HPOWeb reviewed on 21 January 2019 and yielded three SS (one mistakenly designated as DE/SL) and no NR, SL, LD, or DE properties in the Area of Potential Effects (APE). Stanly County current GIS mapping, aerial photography, and tax information indicated an APE of woodland and cultivated fields with several residential and agricultural resources dating from the 1900s to the 2000s (viewed 21 January 2019). Pre-1970 resources fully evaluated for NR eligibility in 2015 when project originally reviewed as B-5537 (see attached map and eligibility concurrence memo from HPO), and findings remain valid. Constructed in 1970, Bridge No. 35 is not eligible for listing in the National Register as it is neither aesthetically nor technologically significant. Google Maps"Street View"confirmed the presence and relative placement of architectural and landscape resources in the APE (viewed 21 January 2019). No architectural survey is required for the project as currently defined. WHY THE AVAILABLE INFORMATION PROVIDES A RELIABLE BASIS FOR REASONABLY PREDICTING THAT THERE ARE NO UNIDENTIFIED SIGNIFICANT HISTORIC ARCHITECTURAL OR LANDSCAPE RESOURCES IN THE PROJECT AREA: APE extends 800 feet W and 1100 feet east of the existing bridge and 200 feet to either side of the SR 1143 (Millingport Road) centerline to encompass proposed construction activities. The comprehensive architectural survey of the county (1989-91) and later additions record two of the three evaluated properties in the current APE (Donna Dodenhoff, Stanly County: TheArch/tectura/Legacy of a Rural North Carolina County(Albemarle, NC: Albemarle-Stanly County Historic Preservation Commission, 1992)). County GIS/tax materials and other visuals illustrate the locations of architectural and landscape resources. No National Register-listed properties are located within the APE. Should the design of the project change, please notify NCDOT Historic Architecture as additional review may be necessary.
