However, in this case, since the stream discharges to the complainant’s pond and with basins discharging to the pipe outlet, we thought it best to install waddles as an extra protective measure to trap sediments from any losses that may be transported downstream during storm events. The sediments can then be removed from the channel before they move further downstream in the next storm. It worked very well during this last storm event as did the turbidity curtain. The waddle needs to be monitored and maintained/replaced as needed. As does the turbidity curtain. Once disturbed soils in the drainage area become stabilized with adequate cover per Roadside’s recommendations, the waddle may be removed. As a reminder, all this work must also be documented in the project’s weekly NPDES inspections and record keeping reports as conditioned in DOT’s 401 permit. It was recommended by Roadside and Jerry due to basin draining into the area. Not what we usually do.
