Yes, the way they want to deal with the old footer is fine with us in this case. It seems to be the standard way NCDOT handles those situations. The project above has been submitted for 401/Buffer approval and is in the pre-filing stage. I wanted to inquire what NWP will be selected and if you would be in agreement with the construction activities listed on page 4 of the attached permit drawings. “Cut existing steel pile flush with existing (east bank) concrete footer and retain the concrete footer as is.” At this time, we do not feel it would be a Water Quality concern if they leave the footers in place. Let me know what thoughts/comments you have.
