The Division of Water Quality (DWQ) has performed a preliminary review of a 401 Water Quality Certification
application submitted for the above referenced property. A site inspection was also performed along with
David Brown of the US Army Corps of Engineers and David McHenry of the NC Wildlife Resources
Commission on May 29, 2013. Additional information will be required in order to complete the review process.
Please provide the following information so that we may continue to review your project.
Additional Information Requested:
1. The attached exibit B. 3. e. indicates an 18 inch drop in water surface elevation between the ford
and the stream below. Our infield measurements revealed that there is a 38 inch drop to the
downstream water. This drop is a fish passage issue. The Water Quality Certification requires
that aquatic life passage be maintained. You are requested to submit plans for modifications
which would return aquatic life passage to this stream segment.
