The Division of Water Quality (DWQ) has performed a preliminary review of a 401 Water Quality Certification
application submitted for the above referenced property. Additional information will be required in order to
complete the review process.
Please provide the following information so that we may continue to review your project.
Additional Information Requested:
1. Post construction stormwater controls may be required for this project under the WQC 3890. Per
E.2. of the PCN Form, the applicant must indicate the overall percent impervious area of the
project, upon completion of the project. Based on the information provided, the DWQ would
like reconfirmation of imperviousness of the project upon completion. DWQ would like to see a
scaled drawing of the proposed project with a clear indication of the percent impervious surface
area calculation.
Attatchment A: 401 Stormwater Requirements as specified in WQC3890 are included with this
letter for your reference. Even if the site is deemed low density (less than or equal to 24%
impervious area), the applicant is required to submit the low density supplement form to ensure
that low density requirements are met (vegetative swales, no direct conveyance of stormwater to
surface waters, etc.)

Also, be aware that surface waters in this area of the Tuckasegee River (including unnamed tributaries) are
classified B -Trout and are subject to a 25 foot buffer. Please contact Jackson County Planning regarding what
may be applicable for this project.
Please provide your response in writing to the addresses below prior to July 8, 2013. Four copies of the
required information should be provided to the Wetlands, Buffers, Stormwater Compliance and Permitting Unit
