With reference to Part I A. (3.) of the subject permit, this letter provides the required 7-day
advanced notification to you that the decanting of the ash basin is progressing such that plans are
to begin the dewatering phase in the near term. Upon actual commencement of dewatering, Duke
staff will provide further communication such that the monitoring requirements for Outfall 002
(dewatering phase) can be activiated in the Department's Basinwide Information Management
System database. It is projected that the dewatering will begin the week of June 1, 2020.
