Im happy to say it went smooth for the most part although because of a minor glitch that needed to be fixed on the pump I was unable -to chlorinate/dechlorinate ,because of having no water, from late Monday untill yesterday at 5pm. Because I'm only using one basin I had the other basin (AB2) only 20% full just incase we needed a temporary storage for a situation like this to hold our incoming flow, but nothing was dicharged during that period as it only filled it to maybe 60% full. Therefore I wont have any data such as effluent PH, temp, etc. for those two days since we didnt discharge anything. As far as discharging to Bear Creek that of course was done before the water connection had to be made and the plant was in normal operation, it was a total of 1 1/2 days (about 30- 32 hrs.) and there were no problems. Total flow to Bear Creek would be about .150 MG. I can now slowly drain AB2 basin back to AB1 which I am currently using. Again everything looks good and hopefully this will work out really well and save the Town money. Please contact me if you have questions or if there is anything else I need to do. We were able to put the plant back to normal flow on the outfall line by around 600 pm Friday. There were no problems this weekend. We have to draw it down one more time either today or tomm. and will discharge back to Bear creek for maybe a half day while they make one last repair. I will keep you posted, Thanks Rodney 1 From: belinda.henson@ncdenr.gov To: rkiser883@hotmail.com Date: Fri, 30 Apr 2010 07:47:37 -0400 Subject: RE: Effluent discharge 'hanks Rodney... Everything is going smooth with no problems so far. I called your office and left a voicemail to Mark Brantly. As soon as it ends I will also notify your office. Belinda From: Rodney Kiser [mailto:rkiser883@hotmail.com] Sent: Monday, April 26, 2010 12:37 PM To: Henson, Belinda Subject: Effluent discharge Dear Mrs. Henson, I am writing this email concerning the Robbins WWTP. We are currently in the beginning stages of a long awaited effluent water reclamation plan. We currently use around 40,000 gallons per day of potable water for our chlorine and sulfer dioxide gas disinfection/dechlorination system. By using treated effluent water it will greatly decrease water use and save money in the long run. Because this will require draining the effluent aeration box, which is where the 2 new reclaimed water pumps will be, we will have to temporarily remove the outfall line from service and therefore discharge our effluent water to nearby Bear creek. This was this original discharge water way before the outfall line was installed to pipe our water all the way to Deep river in the 1980's. We would like permission to discharge to Bear creek for a period of hopefully no more than 4-5 days but maybe as short as 2 days (this would give us an extra day or two to locate air relief valves along outfall line if needed) The actual pump installtion should only take about 2 2 days and total bypass pumping to Bear creek could be as little as 2-3 days. We are currently averaging about .130-.140 MGD. If you need any further information or have questions please call me anytime, cell- 910-690-1183 or email rkiser883©hotmail.com. I will call when the bypass starts and ends when system is back online. The contractor is hoping to install pumps and start the bypass by 4/28 or 4/29 if everything goes as planned but I will let you know. Thanks again Sincerely Rodney Kiser, Robbins WWTP Manager/ORC y.
