DO Probe out of service below Jordan Dam
Attachments:

Importance: High
The optical DO probe in the tailwater below Jordan Dam that the Jordan Hydro Project uses to monitor DO
and temperature in the discharge failed early Sunday morning. It has been operational for a few weeks after
the electrical power was restored. We bought this probe last year (In Situ RDO PRO), but it does appear to
have a failed sensor. We plan to discuss its condition today with the company we use for water quality
equipment maintenance (Fondriest Environmental) to see if they could repair it. We expect they can. So we
hope to mail it to them tomorrow for repair.
While this probe is out of service we plan to generate when the DO in the tailwater is above 5 mg /I, checked
using our handheld probe. The dam will be making large releases for the next few days, so DO will not be an
issue because a lot of water will be passed through our spillgates (small gates in the modules). We hope to
have a permanent probe (repaired) installed by early next week (> June 17). We will record grab samples
during this period as we did during the power outage.
Let me know of any problems with this plan or comments.
