One NOV for violation of fecal coliform daily max in 2020
Series of NOVs from 2017-2018 for effluent limit violations, but have maintained
compliance with limits well since then.
The facility was inspected on July 23, 2020, resulting in a requirement to address
maintenance issues noted in the aeration basin and secondary clarifier.

Proposed Permit Changes:

I appreciate the opportunity to review the subject draft NPDES permit and have included my response below in bold to satisfy
the new paperless standards.
I concur with issuance of the above permit as I have no appreciable expertise in implementation of the Clean Water Act
requirements and have minimal understanding of the information provided. As a result, I have no basis for opposing the
permit.
Please also note that the nearest downstream raw water intake for a public water system is associated with the City of
Mooresville and is located approximately 5.9 miles downstream.

The NPDES permit for the wastewater treatment facility at the Lake Norman Woods subdivision
located on Marina Lane in Sherrills Ford, North Carolina, is nearing its expiration on April 30,
2020. Thus, it is our desire to renew this permit by means of this NPDES permit renewal
application package. This facility, described in Form D of this package, has not had any
significant upgrades or changes since the renewal of the current permit.
You will find subsequent to this cover letter an NPDES Application: Form D, documentation of
authorization to prepare this renewal package, and a description of the sludge management
program currently in place at this facility. It is our request that this package be processed and
our permit to discharge treated wastewater be renewed following the expiration of the current
permit on April 30, 2020.

Sludge Management Plan for Lake Norman Woods
WWTP
The Lake Norman Woods wastewater treatment plant is a WW-2 facility that serves the residents
of the Lake Norman Woods subdivision. Due to its small size, sludge and solids removal
happens on an as -needed basis. This typically occurs three to four times annually. When solids
accumulate in the secondary clarifier, they are pumped by a local septic tank company, typically
Lentz Septic in Statesville, and disposed of accordingly.
