Eric Kulz with the Division of Water Quality (DWQ) visited the above - referenced site on May
28, 2013. Based on conversations with you, supplemental planting was done this spring with
five - gallon trees.
The stream channel appeared stable and was flowing throughout the site at the time of the site
visit. Several riffles in the upstream portion of the channel appear to have been silted in and
were vegetated, but these did not appear to be impeding or diverting flow.
Vegetation appeared healthy, and the recently - planted stock had leafed out. Herbaceous
vegetation was dense and surviving planted trees appeared healthy.
An area of kudzu was observed near the northern, downstream portion of the site. While not yet
within the easement, the kudzu should be treated to prevent spread into the site conservation
easement and negatively affecting established native vegetation.
Remnants of a beaver dam were observed near the upstream end of the site. The site should be
periodically monitored for beavers, and if encountered beavers should be removed during the
monitoring period.
