I spoke with the engineer from the Town of Cary (Matt Flynn) and he says they have to provide a modern SW plan
anyway. I also discussed this project with James Caldwell, engineer at John R. McAdams, who did some work on this
project. He confirmed that the stormwater wetland does not meet current design standards. Please see attached bullet
item.

The DWQ will not accept the stormwater management plan for Killarney Pointe dated April 15,
2005 as meeting the stormwater requirement of the major variance request for the Southwest
Cary Daycare. The existing stormwater wetland is neither sized nor designed per the current
version of the DWQ BMP Manual. Please provide a new stormwater management plan for this
project that treats the stormwater runoff from the entire project in accordance with the DWQ
BMP Manual, available at: http: // portal .ncdenr.ore /web /wq /ws /su /bmp- manual. Please note
that the Town of Cary will also require that you treat the stormwater from this site in
accordance with current design standards.
