Injection Water Well System The injection water well system operated with the DPW Water - Anthracite Sand Filter / Ultraviolet Light (ASF/UV) disinfection system throughout the period. Short periods of planned downtime were experienced for preventative maintenance and inlet DPW Water strainer cleaning. On October 10, 1997 the injection water temperature indicator recorder malfunctioned and it was determined that a circuit board had failed and could not be repaired. A temporary, local temperature indicator was installed until a replacement could be ordered. A new circuit board was installed on November 11, 1997. Daily operational data are collected by the Shipping Department and reported to the Operations Environmental Department. The total monthly and quarterly volumes of water injected as well as the month- end -water- -level in the -Water -Level-Control Tank - are: t-INJECTED WATER TOTALS DPW WATER GALLONS CONDENSATE GALLONS TOTAL GALLONS AVERAGE GPM TANK LEVEL FEET, MSL Nov-97 700,800 0 700,800 16.2 14.4 Dec-97 772,400 0 772,400 17.3 14.3 Jan-98 706,920 0 706,920 15.8 14.7 TOTALS 2,180,120 0 2,180,120 Withdrawal Well System The Withdrawal Well System operated the entire period. On 12/29/97, a crack in the weld of the north tower of the air drying system was discovered and was sealed by welding. On 1/2/98 the crack reappeared and the dryer was shutdown. Air from the compressor was bypassed around the dryer in order to continue operation of the withdrawal well pumps while a new, replacement drying tower was ordered. On 1/20/98 a new dryer tower was installed and placed in service. On 1/21/98 a valve failed on the drying system and it had to be shutdown and bypassed again. On 1/29/98 a new replacement valve was installed and the system was placed back in service. Some additional short periods of_ planned downtime- for - preventative maintenance, pipe header cleaning, and troubleshooting on individual pumps in the fourteen well system were experienced. Details of these activities are: Confined Sand Formation Withdrawal Wells (SWW) SWW-1; On 11/3/97 the pump stopped and a stainless steel internal float was installed to replace the original ceramic float to try improve the pump's performance. On 11/17/97 and 12/10/97 the pump stopped and had to be shaken to start. SWW-2; On 11/20/97 the pump stopped and had to be shaken to start. On 12/3-5/97 the cycle counter was working only part of the time. On 12/8/97 the cycle counter quit working. Cycles were estimated and calculated until a new replacement counter was installed on 12/23/97. SWW-3; Normal operation with no problems. SWW-4; On 12/15/97 it was determined that the pump and well were scaled up, were cleaned with HC1 and placed back in service. On 1/27/98 and 1/29/98 the pump stopped and had to be shaken to start.
