IL
Illicit discharges contain sewage, deter-
gents, bacteria laden water, or toxic chem-
icals. Many citizens may pollute without
knowing what they're doing. That's why
public education is such an important part
of an IDDE program. Helping citizens
understand the difference between a storm
sewer and a sanitary sewer and encourag-
ing everyday changes means cleaner, safer
waters for today and future generations!
Reporting an Illicit Discharge:
If you see something that doesn't look
or smell right, it's your responsibility to
report it. Call your local government and
report the following:
• What time did you see the discharge?
• Where did you see the discharge?
• What do you think the discharge is?
• Was there a business or individual
involved?
