Subject: Amarx-Valley/Pinecroft-Beaverdam - NCWRC comments
Hi Amanda and Andrew:
I have reviewed the information sent to me about the Amarx-Valley (also known as Pinecroft-Beaverdam)
project, which proposes to culvert 177 ft of an unnamed tributary to Beaverdam Creek for a road into a
residential development in Buncombe County.
The project should not impact wild trout reproduction and a trout moratorium is not needed for this project
revision. However, the applicant proposes to use HDPE material for the culverts. We recommend against
using HDPE material, as this slick material is less likely to hold stream substrate and provide for movement of
aquatic organisms like fish and salamanders.
