Bridge 100 is 91 ft.long with a deck width of 24.2 ft.The surrounding area is forested with Juniper Creek Game Lands and Nature Preserve on both sides of the bridge and
approaches.

Remove existing bridge structure that was constructed in 1966 and replace it with a 100 ft.long by 33 ft.wide bridge.The existing structure has a sufficiency rating of 27.61 out of a
possible 100 for a new structure.The bridge has timber elements that are 53 years old.
4i.Describe the overall project in detail,including indirect impacts and the type of equipment to be used:*
The project is to replace the existing 91 ft.long by 24.2 ft.wide bridge with a 100 ft.long by 33 ft.wide bridge.The approach roadway improvements will extend 345 ft.on the south end
of the bridge and 300 ft.on the north end of the bridge.No utility relocations are required for this project and traffic will be detoured offsite.The project will be constructed with standard
roadway construction equipment which includes excavators,backhoes and cranes.

The bridge will be replaced on the existing alignment and an offsite detour will be used vehicular traffic.Rock plated 2:1 slopes were incorporated in
the design on the north side to minimize impacts.2;1 slopes were evaluated for the south sides but the impacts savings were minimal in comparison to
the cost.

The bridge will be constructed using top down construction methods.Strict implementation of S&EC BMP's will be utilized to protect waters of the US in
accordance with NCDOT's NPDES Permit No.00250 and NCG01.
