HomeMy WebLinkAbout20120596 Ver 1_Complete File_20120618 (2)Project Description GMI was contracted by Naval Facilities Engineering Command (NAVFAC) Washington, to conduct a wetland delineation and stream origin identification at Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) Cherry Point in project areas identified by MCAS Cherry Point. The site is located off US Route 70 and Highway 101 in the town of Havelock, NC. GMI has four project areas at MCAS Cherry Point: Area A (2,470 acre), Area B (1,597 acre), Area C (1,840 acre) and Area D (1,434 acre), with a total acreage of 7,341 (Figure 1). GMI has identified 7 perennial stream, 6 intermittent stream, 17 perennial RPW, and 12 seasonal RPW origins, and 1 non -RPW origin in Project Area D. These features are shown in Figures 2 through 5 and listed in Table 1. Stream Origin Determination Methodology Origins of intermittent and perennial streams in the project areas were located based upon the Methodology for Identification of Intermittent and Perennial Streams and Their Origins, North Carolina Division of Water Quality ( NCDWQ 2010). NCDWQ version 4.11 stream identification forms were filled out for each stream origin determination and are located in Appendix A with associated photos. Where stream features were not present but USACE jurisdiction exists RPW origins were identified using USACE guidance. Origins were labeled with blue flags in the field and GPS points were recorded. Origins will be NCPLS surveyed after verification by NCDWQ. Appendix B has supplemental site verification imagery including USGS Topo Maps and the NRCS Soil Survey. a L Q u u 0 s. a, c 0 e u 0 u A a u w c 0 a u U Q U 0 o w MCAS Cherry Point Project Area D NCDWQ Stream Forms NC DWQ Stream Identification Form Version 4.11 Date: 8/15/2012 Project/Site: CE- 01 MCAS Cherry point Latitude: 34.941736 Evaluator: Geo- Marine: D.
