Daniel Smith, Director Division of Water Resources Water Quality Regional Operations Supervisor 450 West Hanes Mill Road Suite 300 Winston Salem, NC 27105 Subject: Permit No. WQ0042246 Wastewater Pump & Haul Permit Application Pilgrim's Staley Feed Mill And Hatchery— Randolph County Status Report 60 Days Prior to Expiration Dear Mr. Smith: This letter addresses the conditions within our Pump and Haul Permit as referenced above. We have made significant improvements to correct the inflow and infiltration of storm water into our waste handling that prompted us to get the Pump and Haul Permit. The changes we have made thus far has reduced the amount of storm water reaching our wastewater treatment system. The upgrade of the wastewater system that includes a SCADA system that will allow us real time data of the lagoon levels, power outages, influent gallons, and a weather station is scheduled to be complete the week ofJune 21. We feel confident these changes will allow us better control of the process and eventually eliminate the need for a pump and haul permit.
