Mr. Bell, On Friday, June11 th, at 14:26 CLTWater provided you with a 24 hour notice regarding a power outage at McDowell Creek WWTP. Please let this email serve as CLTWater's 5 Day report for this event. At approximately, 06:55 am on June 11th, a tree fell on the main power line coming into McDowell Creek WWTP and the facility lost power. Plant staff responded to the outage immediately but could not manually reset the generator faults and restore power. As a result, plant staff called in Caterpillar to assist unlocking the generators. At approximately, 07:58 utility power was restored. During the 1 hour and 3 minutes when power was out, it was estimated that 127,000 gallons of partially treated effluent gravity flowed out the tertiary sand filters, through the UV channels, down the cascade aerator, and out into McDowell Creek. McDowell's daily fecal sample collected on Friday at 08:22 yielded a result of 673 cfu/100m1. Please note that McDowell doesn't have a daily maximum fecal coliform limit; and given Friday's result, was in compliance with their weekly average limit of 200 cfu/100m1 for the week ending June 12th. If you have any questions concerning this event please feel free to contact me directly.
