Comments: Impacts are the result of a proposed road crossing that will include the installation of two 60-inch diameter 85-long culverts. The culverts vdll result in 92 linear feet of permanent impact and the rip -rap inlet and outlet protection on either side of the culvert vdll result in 73 linear feet of permanent impact with no loss of stream channel. The permanent loss impacts will total 710 square feet (0.02 ac). The rip rap will be keyed in to the stream bed after construction, resulting in a permanent impact without a loss of waters. Temporary impacts will result from the pump around process while the culvert is installed. 6. Buffer Impacts (for DWR) 6a. Project is in which protect basin(s)? Check all that apply. These permanent impacts Will total 9,740 square feet in Zone 1 and 2,313 square feet in Zone 2. Temporary impacts will be the result of clearing and grading necessary for construction. After construction, vegetation will be allowed to regrow. These temporary impacts will total 1,026 square feet in Zone 1 and 4,462 square feet in Zone 2 Supporting Documentation Impact Exhibits.pdf 952.73KB E. Impact Justification and Mitigation u 1. Avoidance and Minimization 1a. Specifically describe measures taken to avoid or minimize the proposed impacts in designing the project: During design of the project, the project was initially designed to avoid all impacts to jurisdictional features. As a condition of approval for permits from the Town of Wake Forest, the developer was required to connect the subdivision to an existing subdivision via Frog Follow Way. As a result, a stream crossing became necessary. The endwalls for the culvert crossing were shortened as much as practicable to reduce impacts to the stream. 1b. Specifically describe measures taken to avoid or minimize the proposed impacts through construction techniques: During construction, specific attention will be paid to ensure grading is only performed to the extent needed for the proposed project and all grading not required will be avoided. Additional impacts to the jurisdictional stream will be avoided through the use of appropriate sediment and erosion control devices. 2. Compensatory Mitigation for Impacts to Waters of the U.S. or Waters of the State 2a. Does the project require Compensatory Mitigation for impacts to Waters of the U.S. or Waters of the State? r Yes r No 2b. If this project DOES NOT require Compensatory Mitigation, explain why: Impacts to jurisdictional streams are below thresholds requiring mitigation. F.
