Dear Ms. Moore;
Southern Power Company (SPC) received written approval for the use of the chemical, Gengard 8020, from
North Carolina DEQ on February 12, 2021.
This letter is to notify North Carolina DEQ that SPC— Plant Rowan County Power Station (Plant) initiated
use of Gengard 8020 on June 25, 2021. Gengard 8020 is used as a corrosion inhibitor in the Plant's
cooling tower system. The previously used chemical, Gengard 7004, is now discontinued.
