Repair on the lagoon dike was started at
approximately 11:00 am by Bland Grading &
Hauling and technical assistance from Curtis
Barwick of Barwicks Ag Services by putting
sakrete around drain pipe and packing with clay.
The inside berm was extended on into the
lagoon to add reinforcement to the damaged
area and sakrete applied to lower interior wall of
repair. Repair was completed at 5:45 pm on
9/17/18.
Notes
Checked both lagoons prior to the storm. Levels
were at 39" at that time.
Spoke to Curtis Barwick and he notified DWQ of
levels and that we were starting to pump out of #1
Lagoon in field #1 by opening hydrants F&G for
fear of it failing. Pumping began at 7:45 pm.
Breach was stopped temporarily with a door and
stobs. Spoke to Kenneth Bland to come and
repair the lagoon at 9:15 am. Notified Curtis
Barwick and Brian Kennedy of the failure. DWQ
was notified by Barwick.
It is estimated by Barwicks Ag Services that #2
Lagoon lost between 500,000 - 600,000 gallons of
effluent.
