The project ended on June 16, 2000 and all the equipment and tanks are back in full service. During the project there were no violations of permit limits or bypasses of any kind. We were very successful in transferring seed back into the primary digester after it was cleaned and all the operations are back to normal. DEHNR Division of Water Quality 225 Green Street, Suite 714 Fayetteville, N.C. 28301-5043 Dear Ms. Henson: REEVE' AN 2 5 MO FAv.ETTEvluE This letter is in response to our phone conversation on May 9, 2000 about the digester cleaning that will take place at the Moore County Wastewater facility. This project will begin on May 15, 2000 and is expected to last from four to six weeks. The project will consist of taking the primary digester off-line then converting the secondary to operate as a primary. At the time that first digester is cleaned it will be inspected and any repairs needed will be made at that time. When the first digester is ready to go back on line, seed will be put into it and the second digester will be taken off-line for cleaning. We have taken what we feel are all the necessary precautions to prevent any violations of our effluent permit limits during the time that the digesters will be off-line. In the event that there are any problems while the project is under way your office will be notified immediately. When the project has been completed we will notify you in writing and by telephone. If you have any questions or comments please call me at 910-281-3146. Sincerely, Alvin Simpson, Project Manager American Water Services, Inc. 1060 Addor Road • P.O.
