Subject: FW: update on Moore County WPCP
Hi Belinda,
Today's update on Moore County WPCP: Brant said that the last MLTSS was 2500 mg/L and the trend is
visually appearing good for today (he will have the actual values later today on the MLTSS). At this time Brant doesn't
think that there will be any NPDES violations. (My note: the WET was a "Fail" before the recent rains, so the effect of
the increase flow on the Multiple Dilution WET is still unknown for October). From midnight on September 29th to
midnight on September 30th , the flow was 12.15 MGD.
Thanks,
Dale

Dale,
Just wanted to give you an update on the status of the plant.
- We have experienced extremely high flows due to the rain event. We have done everything possible to retain solids,
but they are still washing out at a fast rate. Prior to the rain event, we allowed the MLSS to build up a little more than
normal, in anticipation of the event. Hopefully that has helped us some. I think we will be within our BOD and TSS limits
(assuming no more rain). I will not know the extent of the upset until I get results from the lab later today.
- We have taken on a lot of non-volatile material and grease from the collection system.
- From 2am — 10am the flow ranged from 13 —15.5 MGD. At present, the flow coming through is 14.4 MGD. The total
flow from 12MN — 10am = 5.4 MG.
Again, I think we will be ok but I wanted to let you know in case things get worse.
Thanks,
Brant

Subject: Suggestion for Toxicity Identification Evaluation at Moore County regional WWTP
Hi Janna & Brant,
In the email that you sent to me yesterday, the fourteen items that you listed in the Toxicity Reduction
Evaluation section indicated that you have looked into many possibilities for the cause and reduction of toxicity affecting
the Whole Effluent Toxicity test. I have a suggestion: please examine closely, the data that you have, for a synergistic
effect of the combination of potential toxicity sources. Look for combinations of individual parameters (etc) that
together would contribute to the WET failure, and sum the totals to see if there is a possibility that two or more things in
combination could have produced a hostile environment for the Ceriodaphnia in the test.
Brant, thanks for the update concerning the present status of the WWTP due to the current rain. events.
Dale
