Dear Mr. Pennington:
Shield Engineering, Inc. (Shield) successfully collected the semi-annual stormwater samples for
Stormwater Discharge Outfall (SDO) #002 at the Daimler Trucks Gastonia facility during the month of
May 2021. During the May 3'4 sampling event, Shield's measurement for pH was 7.5 at SDO #002. The
Qualitative Monitoring Report and a partially completed Discharge Monitoring Report (DMR) form are
attached to this cover letter. In addition, the analytical results for the stormwater samples collected during
the qualifying storm events are attached to this cover letter. Results from the May 3`d sampling event show
an exceedance of TSS at SDO #002.
The rain event on May V did not produce enough rain in order to collect the semi-annual stormwater
samples for Stormwater Discharge Outfall SDO #003. Shield will continue to monitor daily weather
conditions and continue coordination of appropriate staff and resources to collect stormwater samples at
this outfall, for the 1" semi-annual period (January — June 2021). Note that SDO #001 was sampled for the
1 S` semi-annual period in January 2021.
The person designated to act as the permittee by Daimler Trucks — Gastonia Facility should sign page 1 of
the attached DMR. The signed DMR form should then be mailed to the regulatory agency regional office
at Mooresville, NC. Shield greatly appreciates the opportunity to provide environmental services to Daimler
Trucks of North America. If you have any questions in reference to this document or require further
information, please feel free to contact either of the undersigned at (704) 394-6913.
Respectfully,
SHIELD ENGINEERING, INC.
